North Pittsburgh, PA – Special Strong, a specialty fitness provider serving individuals with mental, physical, and cognitive challenges, is proud to announce the grand opening of its newest franchise in North Pittsburgh, owned and operated by local entrepreneur Kevin Devinney. The community is invited to attend a grand opening celebration on Sunday, August 23, from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm at Fun Slides Carpet Skate Park and Party Center located at 1130 Perry Highway. Guests are encouraged to complete a waiver (found here) before attending, and closed-toe shoes are required to participate.
For Kevin, Special Strong is a continuation of a lifelong commitment to service and a belief in every person’s potential. His passion for supporting individuals with disabilities began in high school, where he volunteered in a classroom for students with multiple disabilities, and deepened in college through his involvement with the Special Olympics. Kevin is guided by faith, family, and a belief that every athlete deserves exceptional service, encouragement, and support. Kevin brings a career in laboratory operations and product management, along with years of coaching experience, patience, and empathy, to his work with Special Strong.
“Special Strong is an opportunity to create more than just a fitness program. It is about building a safe, supportive community for athletes and their families,” said Devinney. “I’m committed to meeting every client where they are, helping them build confidence, and supporting them in achieving more than they thought possible.”
Special Strong was founded in 2016 by Daniel Stein, who began specializing in health and fitness for people with special needs after being diagnosed with a learning disability, mood disorder, and autoimmune disease. The company provides adaptive and inclusive fitness programs to individuals around the world with mental, physical, and cognitive challenges, including Down syndrome, autism, cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, rare genetic conditions, and more.
