FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
RHODE ISLAND AND SOUTHEAST MASSACHUSETTS — Special Strong, a leading Adaptive Fitness franchise dedicated to serving individuals with mental, physical, and cognitive challenges, today announced its first locations in both Rhode Island and Massachusetts under franchise owners Michael Yamin and Christy Paiva, M.D. The agreement covers three territories in total — two in Rhode Island and one in Southeast Massachusetts — marking Special Strong’s entry into two new states through a single ownership team.
Yamin brings decades of hands-on leadership and operational expertise to Special Strong, grounded in a long career as a multi-unit restaurant owner-operator and business executive. His professional trajectory has centered on leadership, team building, community engagement, and high-level client relations. Paiva is a board-certified physician and Vice President and co-owner of Hope & Strength Corp, combining a deep medical background with strategic business operations.
“Special Strong isn’t just a gym franchise — it is a mission-driven ecosystem built to transform lives.”

For both owners, the mission is personal. Having friends and family members with special needs made adaptive fitness deeply meaningful to each of them, and after decades spent running successful, high-volume enterprises, they were looking for a venture where that professional experience could directly serve a higher purpose.
Business Structure Meets Clinical Insight
“Special Strong stood out from every other option because it seamlessly bridges top-tier business structure with deep personal impact,” the owners said. “Combining Michael’s background in business operations with Christy’s medical and clinical perspective allows us to make a direct, tangible difference in our local community for families and individuals who need adaptive fitness the most.”
Paiva’s connection to the mission is rooted in both her clinical understanding of physical wellness and a personal heart for service, having witnessed loved ones and friends navigate the triumphs and unique challenges of living with differing abilities. “Having spent decades in hospitality and business operations, I know that success relies on structured systems and a clear mission,” Yamin said. “Special Strong’s proven track record, comprehensive adaptive fitness methodology, and dedicated corporate support gave me full confidence that launching this business would effectively serve our local community.”
Special Strong Rhode Island, spanning two territories, and Special Strong Southeast Massachusetts, operated under Hope & Strength Corp, bring a dedicated team of certified adaptive trainers to individuals of all abilities across both states.
