FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Woodbury, MN – June 2026 – Special Strong, a fitness provider specializing in adaptive training for individuals with mental, physical, and cognitive challenges, will celebrate the Grand Opening of Special Strong Twin Cities on Friday, July 24, from 5–8 p.m. at Woodbury Central Park, located at 8595 Central Park Place. The event will be held in the park’s newly remodeled, fully accessible indoor venue, which features accessible restrooms with adult changing beds and free on-site parking. The location marks Special Strong’s first franchise in Minnesota, and is owned and operated by Trevor and Kristen Olson.
The Olsons bring more than 25 years of combined personal and professional experience in the special needs community. Trevor’s background is in business, with a longtime dream of franchising. Kristen is a pediatric physical therapist. Together, they’ve seen firsthand what families navigate when advocating for a loved one with special needs. Their daughter Hana has cerebral palsy and developmental delays, and that experience has shaped everything about how they approach this work. When the couple discovered Special Strong, opening Minnesota’s first location wasn’t just an opportunity, it was the obvious next step.
“The need for fitness beyond the therapy gym is real, and it’s not being met,” said Trevor and Kristen Olson. “Special Strong exists for exactly that gap. We’ve lived this as a family, and we’ve watched other families fight the same fight. We want to be part of their village as a support system that shows up and stays.”
Special Strong was founded in 2016 by Daniel Stein, who began specializing in health and fitness for people with special needs after being diagnosed with a learning disability, mood disorder, and autoimmune disease. The company provides adaptive and inclusive fitness programs to individuals with mental, physical, and cognitive challenges, including Down syndrome, autism, cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, rare genetic conditions, and more.
“Trevor and Kristen bring something you can’t manufacture — they know this community from the inside,” said Daniel Stein, CEO & Founder of Special Strong. “That love for the people they serve is exactly what drives this mission forward. We’re proud to have them bring Special Strong to Minnesota.”
