A Legacy of Service: Rachel and Thad Spates Launch Special Strong East Central Alabama
Cropwell, AL – September 1, 2025 – Special Strong proudly announces the launch of its newest franchise in East Central Alabama, led by franchise owners Rachel and Thad Spates. With decades of combined personal and professional experience, the Spates are bringing their passion for inclusion, advocacy, and fitness to empower individuals with mental, physical, and cognitive challenges through adaptive fitness.
For Thad, the mission is deeply personal. He grew up alongside his younger brother Matt, who had cerebral palsy, and spent more than 20 years volunteering with Special Olympics. Rachel began her career as a special education teacher and later became a middle school principal, where she championed programs for students with behavioral and cognitive challenges. Together, their journey reflects a lifelong dedication to service, inclusion, and empowerment.
