FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
North Pittsburgh, PA – March 25, 2026 — Special Strong, a leading adaptive fitness franchise dedicated to serving individuals with mental, physical, and cognitive challenges, today announced the opening of its newest location in North Pittsburgh under the ownership of Kevin Devinney.
Devinney brings a deeply personal connection to Special Strong’s mission. His commitment to supporting individuals with disabilities began in high school, where he volunteered in a classroom for students with multiple disabilities, and continued into college through his work with Special Olympics. Those formative experiences laid the foundation for a life centered on service, empathy, and inclusion.
“For me, this franchise is about more than fitness — it’s about creating a safe, supportive community for athletes and their families.”
— Kevin Devinney, Owner, Special Strong North Pittsburgh
Professionally, Devinney has built a career in laboratory operations and product management, developing strong leadership and organizational skills he now channels into growing Special Strong North Pittsburgh. He is committed to meeting every client where they are, building confidence, and delivering the high-quality service every athlete deserves.
Devinney’s path to Special Strong began one evening while researching franchise opportunities. He submitted an inquiry about ownership the very next day. “I haven’t looked back ever since,” he said. The alignment between Special Strong’s faith-based mission and his personal values made the decision clear.
“I was immediately drawn to Special Strong’s mission to serve athletes with mental, physical, and cognitive challenges to live a more abundant life,” Devinney said. “There are a lot of great franchises out there, but very few have the ability to affect lives in such a positive manner.”
Special Strong North Pittsburgh joins a growing national network of franchise locations providing adaptive fitness programs designed to improve the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of individuals with special needs. The franchise model supports owners with marketing, lead generation, website management, and business automation, allowing them to focus on what matters most: their athletes.
