Brenna Special Strong Case Study

Meet Brenna Carpenter, a 22-year-old Special Strong athlete whose journey is nothing short of inspiring.

Brenna faces multiple complex diagnoses, including Autism, SCID (post-stem cell transplant), Juvenile Dermatomyositis, 16p11.2 deletion syndrome, and hemiplegic migraines. But none of these challenges define her—what does is her resilience, determination, and incredible heart.

Brenna was one of our very first group class athletes, attending the Special Strong West Houston grand opening and immediately stepping into a leadership role.

She helped guide others, demonstrating exercises with confidence and care. Her natural ability to encourage and support her peers set the tone for what Special Strong is all about.

She went on to earn a bronze medal in the very first Strong Games, and today, Brenna continues to break new ground as our first-ever intern.

Her journey shows that Special Strong is about more than physical fitness—we’re here to promote confidence, independence, and lifelong growth.

Brenna’s leadership and spirit continue to pave the way for others. We’re beyond proud to have her as part of the Special Strong family.
